Adrift

A flower set adrift
In a puddle
a yellow boat
caught swirling in
the eddying currents
round and round
as raindrops fall
down a little trickle
into the stream
fragrance floats
above the water
turning gently in
still waters
round and round
faster currents
gliding sliding
bobbing under
then above
little yellow boat
precious like saffron
cut from stem
left adrift
round and round
coming to rest
then floating above
petals scatter slowly
behind
loves me, love me not
set adrift
precious like saffron
round and round
fragrant and lovely
fewer and fewer
petals remain
loves me, loves me not
tangled among the reeds
lost and waiting
